Last week during the media conference call, welterweight contender Rory MacDonald had stated he had secured a crypto sponsorship in the form of DASH and hoped it would start a crypto trend in the sport of MMA. It looks like his hopes are quickly becoming a reality as MMA Weekly also reported that former lightweight champion, Michael Chandler has partnered with Coin Lion a new cryptocurrency exchange.
Chandler said he has been dabbling in crypto for a couple of months and researched the exchange as well. Chandler seemed impressed with the exchange and like the idea of crypto in MMA. Maybe STEEM has a chance to get into the sport since it seems like we have a decent MMA/BJJ community here already.
What do you think? Is 2018 going to be the year we see more crypto sponsorships and endorsement deals in sports? I think it is pretty cool that if it becomes a thing, Bellator is the first promotion to do it in the US. Check out the full article on Chandler over at MMA Weekly.
