Microsoft browser will soon be unavailable

Microsoft wants to do away with their browser completely. In this article you will learn when this will happen.

Microsoft is restructuring its browser portfolio: Microsoft launched a Chrome and Firefox rival with its Edge browser at the start of Windows 10 in 2015, which was also expected to replace Internet Explorer 11, the company's own. Edge, however, was never really well received by users; after all, it was too big an effort for Microsoft's own browser.

The old Edge is being discarded by Microsoft, and the end of support is dated March 9, 2021. It's no coincidence that this is the month's second Tuesday. On Patchday, which is the last time for Edge in March 2021, Microsoft still distributes their security updates. You should have an alternative in mind by then at the latest, if you still use the old Edge.

The second cutoff date in April should be interesting for many: the old Edge will vanish from the scheme on April 13th. The legacy edition will be disabled as soon as the update reaches the computers, and the latest Microsoft Edge will be installed. This provides integrated security and the highest interoperability with the Microsoft security ecosystem, according to Microsoft.

Internet Explorer 11 is a dinosaur, but since it is still used, particularly in companies, there is no official end to the support. Microsoft aims to lure them out of the old browser, however. IE for Microsoft Teams will no longer be used as early as November 2020. Until August 2021, support for Microsoft 365 web apps will continue.

That's it for today's news. I wish all a nice day :)
