i realise this is not a pure blood way of doing crypto mining, i don’t wanna talk about profitability over this and that, but i do want to talk about retro fitting out of old style heaters in favour of multifunctional heat producing mining rig retro fitted to older caravans. what if your caravan mined bro?
OBJECTIVE 1
build alternative heating system, low noise, active cold air input, warm air output, matched max power of 1750w to equivalent to match high setting of 1985 heating system to fly under power usage radar at current location
OBJECTIVE 2
learn about crypto mining, use nice hash to pick a good set of cryptos to be mining, make enough per month to pay for current site fees and profit to be put back into portfolio of other cryptos.
OBJECTIVE 3
make a course around the process for static caravans to retro fit a radically different kind of heating system and consider van dwellers in static locations with the view of eventually being a solar array, deep cycle battery bank offset with main supply with cellular or mesh enabled backhaul comms.
i know, i know. it sounds nuts but let’s look at the facts of what i have now, to replace the 1985 blown air heating in the van now would be crazy to repair it and have it be energy inefficient. sure, it’s a great unit (or was) but it’s just greedy on the power usage, why not kill two birds with one stone (i have no idea who came up with this saying but i love it) and have something makes some funds at the same time as heating the place, i would not have the heating on all the time, only when i needed heat.
now i know what your thinking why have a miner when you are only going to use it for a short period of time, well, in the short term i don’t want to burn through lots of power where i am, i really only needed to replace the heater so it running would produce enough heat that i can route through existing piping ducts into the van, in the day time i can use a much cheaper oil burner instead to ‘take the edge’ off
eventually, once settled obviously i’d like to be running this full time once in a location where the electricity is cheaper and let nicehash decide what to mind anyway, i’d love to find a way to also harness the power of say two of the cards in an SLI configuration for gaming external to another pc but that’s way off, i’m not even sure if that is possible but it’s a thought that sits in my mind, all that gpu power sitting there ready to game! :)
