Minecraft Monday

It's Monday and we've been playing just a little bit of Minecraft. Planning, building, creating, farming, mining, and planting.

Both the kid and I are home sick - confined to the couch, snuggled in warm blankets, and unable to move more than a few wheezy centimetres from the tissue box. Current status: miserable. So while we rest up we've been working together on a little Minecraft town project.

Castia Classic

Our little town is called Merosa and it sits on the Castia Minecraft server (CastiaMC.com). Castia is a Towny server that has been running for just over a year. As of last week there are now two Castia worlds to build your town in - Classic and Greek. Both have the same features. Classic is the original and has an established economy and large towns. Greek is brand new and has custom biomes and trees, as well as the Greek theme. There is a global chat so that players in both worlds can converse. Both worlds have a resource world where resources can be gathered and mined. These resource worlds are reset every month.

Merosa sits in the Classic world and has been built as a little medieval walled town.

All the basics for the town are in place - a farm, an inn, a marketplace, and a community workshop. The tower provides a birdseye view of the town and surrounding forest. Plots bordering town are currently up for sale and just awaiting new residents to move in.

Our next goal is expanding the marketplace and earning a nice nest egg of money to ensure the ongoing upkeep of the town. There's a daily world charge of $25 (in-game money) per town plot, so it does take some work to ensure the town remains financially viable. It's been a great maths exercise for the kid - working out the finances, calculating the shortfall, and determining how much we need to raise through jobs, sales, and auctions.

We're also planning more decorations, pathways, and roads. A general beautification of the town, ... and perhaps a skele spawner. If you're playing on Castia, be sure to drop by and say hi ./t spawn Merosa

SteemCraft

Over the last two weeks I've also spent a little more time on the Steemcraft server.

I mined and farmed, trading my loot for in-game dollars until I'd made enough to claim a town. Then began the search for a suitable site. A long trip by boat revealed a lovely site in a plains biome, closely bordered by forest and taiga. On a flat space I've built a simple acacia house, a cattle yard, and a farm plot. Looking forward to expanding this build in the future.

So what's your #MinecraftMonday adventure?

What are you up to in Minecraft? Is your Minecraft style more builder or adventurer? Do you have a favourite server? Have you joined the SteemCraft server yet?
