Here in the UK the winter is setting in and the swallows have for the last two weeks been congregating on mass. I have been watching them and found myself enjoying not only their spectacular visual displays moving as one through the sky, but also the lessons they teach through their actions.
When I walk around the solar construction site at which I work, they always seem to follow me.
As the days progressed I observed how they moved as one in ever larger numbers, always playful, always connected, always communicating without words.
Though I must say they do make quite a loud noise, like a thousand tiny voices all chattering at the same time.
When it is time to begin their long journey to South Africa, they all instantly know as one.
The baby swallows amongst them have no experience or understanding of what it is to fly such a huge distance and yet they instinctively know what is coming and how to prepare.
Full moon coincidence?
A few days ago it was full moon and guess what... the sparrows are gone now.
There is no more chattering in the air and I feel blessed to have witnessed them in these final UK days, here in Yorkshire.
The shot you can see here was the last time I saw them. Perhaps I photographed the very moment the Collective Consciousness decided it was time to go.
I shot this image of the moon when it was full. The incomplete solar farm visible bottom left.
What can we learn from these swallows as humans?
Move south when it gets cold!
No amount of logic or reason can connect us to that deeper place where all questions are answered instantly. We all have access to this place but few of us are able to reach it.
The birds are connected because they simply do what they were meant to do. They are at one with the world and at one as a species.
The Collective Consciousness guides and protects them.
We know too well how animals sense natural disasters long before us humans.
One of the reasons I never wear shoes is to connect as much as possible to our Great Mother so that she may guide me.
Other ways of maintaining connectivity
Be conscious of the moon cycles. How do they make you feel?
Food is important. Birds don't cook their food. Learn from this. Eat raw, fresh, organic & diverse.
Your thoughts are important too. Stay focused only on that which makes you feel good. Like the birds, remain playful at all times.
Meditate every day. And find your own way. I do it while sun-gazing :)
Stay busy and know that everything is exactly as it should be.
Finally, know that you are eternal. You have lived countless lives already and your knowledge is infinite.
There are no questions you do not already have the answer to.
