Milan's new owner Gerry Cardinale, number one of the RedBird fund, spoke directly from New York on the sidelines of the conference organized by Sportico "Invest in Sports." During the chat, the American manager once again clarified his plans with Milan and within the world of sports.

Continuity not passivity

According to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport, Cardinale closed his talk in New York by starting with those who bequeathed Milan to him and reiterating not only the good work done by the Singer family but also his intention to continue along the path traced by the Elliott fund over the past four years. The Rossoneri owner's goal is clear: "You can't just buy a club and stand still. The challenge is to shake it up a bit. You can't go guns blazing, we have to figure out how to do it but we can make a good contribution." So yes continuity but certainly not passivity. Cardinale, as a manager now navigated in the world of sports, knows that Milan is a stimulating challenge. Just as it is a challenge to immerse himself in Italian soccer, which appears to be behind the big competitors, Premier over all: "There is disparity. The value of TV rights in the Premier is triple that of Italy and in La Liga it is double."

Entertainment goal

Cardinale seems to have very clear ideas of how he wants to act with Milan, treating it as a real pure entertainment company: "Clubs are now entertainment companies." For Gerry, the goal certainly remains to lead the Rossoneri club to wins but he is also aware that this is not always possible: "What I learned with Yankees and Red Sox is that you cannot win all the time. Milan won a Scudetto and the expectations are to do it again, but in the Champions League now we see that there is a big difference with the Premier." That is why we need to focus on intercepting the fans, making them part of a machine that helps them have fun and enjoy an all-around show. Cardinal has already started in this direction with the aim of creating a network of clubs from different sports. In fact, a few days ago Milan entered into a partnership with the glorious New York Yankees baseball team, sealed by Florenzi's visit to Yankee Stadium. In America, Rossoneri merch will be available in the franchise's stores, the same will happen in Milan's stores as far as the star-studded club is concerned. "I believe that this is how you can have strategic benefits. Through synergies you can grow. It's all very theoretical but for me there is a logic to it."
