Corrosion process "عملية التآكل"

Hi, steemians...
This is a traslated essay from Arabic to English. I have translated it.

Chimical interaction with air and rain can cause damages to many materials, this process is called "corrosion".
Some materials can take thousands of years to be corroded, while other materials can be corroded in awhile.

Did you notice how the new coin looks more bright than the old one? or how the cars are coverd by a layer of oxide with the passing time?? cars and coins are gradually changed due to corrosion.

Corrosion occurs when the atoms of metal surface exposed to chimical reactions with the surrounding medium. The chimical reaction produces new substances which change the color and structure of materials.
This new substances are likely not to be strongly coherance with theasic material, which causes weaking and roughness to the material surface, this surface can be easily deteriorate due to wind and rain, corrosion is a common problem in many amog many metals.

Rust is an iron oxide, formed by the reaction of iron and water in the presence of oxygen, it has a raddish brown color.
When irorn begin rusts, it tends to rust more quickly. The pure and soft iron is imperable, water don't execute it.
Rust is rough and can absorb water and rain and that can accelarate the process of rusting. When the rusting layer formed and separate from basic metal surface, which causes new metal to be exposed to air and that led to its corrosion too, when iron turning to rust, the iron structure became weak, so we should protect the iron that used in car industry, machines and buildings.

corrosion speed

There aremany different metals. Each metal corrodes at its own rate. Potassium metal reacts very rapidly with water, it quickly corrode to the extent of burning. Some metals, such as rubidium and cesium, explode when they touch water. If sodium is exposed to air, corrosion begins in minutes.

Some metals are slowly corrode, platinum and gold are two distinctive metals as they don't corrode in the air, platinum is used in the circuitry industry. Because of this reason people prefer to use gold in jewerly.

There are many ways to stop corrosion, metal coating is the easier one or plastic packaging. This outer layer form as a barrier between metal and air, but if cracks occur in the layer, the metal will quickly corrode.
There is another way that depeds on covering the metal by another one that can not be corroded slowly, galvanised iron is protected by this way. The zink layer that coverd the iron metal surface iscorroded more slowly than iron, so it prevents iron from rust. even when the zink layer is broken, the iron will not be attacked. So, we find the garbage containers, metal piping and corrugated metal roofs are all made of galvanised iron.
One of the good ways that prevent corrosion is to combine different metals by mixing them together in a molten state, the resulting mixture is called alloy. For example, stanles steel is alloy consists of iron, nickel and chrome it has a full resistance of rust.
Value objects like statues, usually painted by gold to prevent corrosion as well as make a beautiful apperance, but this way is so expensive.
