Tired of reading text on your iPhone ? Here's a solution that works ....

Are you tired of information overload? Would you like to hear a voice rather than read the long emails or articles on your iPhone screen? Or do you just want to save time reading (especially if you’re not a fast reader)?

If you have an iPhone with the “Accessibility” feature (e.g. iPhone 4S or later models), you will probably love this idea because instead of spending a lot of time reading (not to mention the strain on your eyes especially as you get older), you can listen to the text being spoken by a ‘person’ built into the iphone. This is particularly useful if you’re on the move where you can use your headphones. You only have to set it up once on your iPhone and then just highlight the text in the article you want to listen and hey presto, it will speak to you! To save even more time, you can even increase the speed of the person’s speech!!

So, how do you do this?

  1. In Settings, go to > General > Accessibility > Speech
  2. Switch on “Speak Selection” and “Speak Screen”
  3. Go to the email or article and highlight the text that you want the ‘person’ to speak. To highlight the whole article, swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen to hear the content. To hear a paragraph only, just highlight that paragraph. A speak button should appear which when pressed, should start the speech. You can stop this anytime by pressing the “pause” button which should be visible on your screen.
Go ahead and try it now. It’s quite easy to set-up.
