Tales from Isolation: Magic the Altering

As I got more confident with my art, I began more involved alterations.

And finally I moved on to my first full alterations. None of the original art or card frame remains on them. It was a big step and I learned a lot about having references and doing sketches. I also learned about priming the piece so the paint has something better to stick to. Those lessons really helped me move forwards with my art. I am not super proud of them but the mean a lot about my journey.

Armed with this new knowledge, over the following weeks I went back in earnest to extended art alters and even full art.

During all this I got my social media set up. I made a twitter and Instagram. I began posting to them and got my first paid commission!

I began to look up how to protect my alters and found spray on lacquers that helpped make the colours and the different textures from the paint fade into the original art on the cards. I went back and protected all my cards I had painted. and I have been since then.

Thanks for continuing with me on this journey of art and magic. There will be one more past art post after this and then everything will be new. I have a art process post in the works and can't wait to share it with you all!
