A 20 year old Ventura college woman, Baylee Ybarra Gatlin, died on May 28, 2017 while attending the Lightning in a Bottle Festival in Bradley, California after being transported to the hospital after a "medical emergency". Her medical autopsy was released this past Thursday, August 3, 2017, by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Offices coroner, saying the cause of her death was "acute LSD overdose". The Monterey County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.

However, the LD50, the dose given to humans where half the humans would die, extrapolated from animal data is 12mg-5g, which is 120x-50,000x the average dose. https://erowid.org/ask/ask.php?ID=220
