Love is a means to unite with another soul and feel the existence of the God. Only a heart filled with true love can understand the purpose & the rationale of this human life.
Pure love instigates pure thoughts and actions. The love (as we know it) always has a tinge of egocentricity and therefore depends on others for its fulfillment (in terms of physical & mental needs).
But divine love knows no limits and conditions. It encompasses every soul and is eternal (beyond space & time).
