Can you receive twelve lashes on your bare back because of love?
This question may seem funny, but it is real. There is a tribe in Nigeria called Fulani, where as part of Marriage rites, the groom will have to receive some strokes of koboko(rope) to the bare back. They believe that any man that can withstand the pain without quiting is capable of protect his bride.
Morever, if you cannot receive the complete strokes, then you are deemed not fit to marry their daughter.
