This was one of those unusual clear balmy San Francisco days. You rarely see these cumulus clouds over the city. I had gone down to Baker Beach to shoot a sunset, but whilst I was looking for an angle to set up, I noticed the striking effect of the spray pounding the partially submerged rock in the foreground. It was really windy and the sea spray was playing havoc with my camera, but I really wanted to get this image. When I saw the results I was delighted—the incredible deep blue of the ocean and the perfect timing capturing the moment of impact of the wave creates a very special image.
