We arrived at the cinema with 20 minutes to spare, more than enough time to get tickets, popcorn and still have a great choice of seats. The cinema wasn’t full, so people coming in had no reason to sit crammed together and considering it was mid-day and mid-week no one was expecting the cinema to be packed.
The lights dim and the previews start, probably 15 min into the actual movie (so a good 30 min since the lights went down) a family walks in talking loudly with crunching packets with no regard for anyone that was in the cinema on time. They proceed to walk half way up the cinema in the centre isle to where we were sitting and plonk themselves down right next to my daughter. No courtesy seat between them, no keeping their voices down whilst talking amongst themselves. Oh but wait it gets even better, they then decide to open all their snacks and argue about who chose what and who’s sharing what. SERIOUSLY!!!
Sadly, not the first time I have witnessed this and it’s just plain rude. Cinema etiquette in my opinion requires you to be seated BEFORE the lights go down, if you happen to run a little late and you walk into a dark cinema you scurry to the first available seats quickly and quietly trying not to cause a distraction for the people that were there on time.
What’s with sitting right next to someone when the cinema is pretty empty and it not assigned seating? At least leave one seat between you and the person that was sitting there first, if not for any other reason than its nice to have the whole armrest to yourself.
Come on people does this not make sense to everyone?
