Shared-help toolkit - Can you help create one?

#Shared-help ... creating a toolkit to support the ones you love.

Over the last decade or more the concept of #Self-help has grown in popularity and commercial value. There are so many books, articles YouTube videos and services to help you - the person struggling to change or move on from a situation.

But, what about the supporters?

I can confirm that at my practice it is incredibly rare for the person in a negative emotional state, the one suffering, to contact me and ask for help. More than likely, the person who asks for help is the one who is supporting a loved one going through emotional turmoil and struggling to break free from it.

This stark realisation shows me that there is more we need to do; to help "the supporter" of a loved one stuck in a cycle of suffering. We need to develop "shared-help" techniques; a toolkit, to be more effective and protect ourselves at the same time.

When did you complete your training in helping others?

It may come as no surprise to accept that on the whole, most of us are free from any formal training to support the negative emotional state of another.

We maybe a great friend, a superb listener and even advice giver or sign-poster to alternative professional service providers. But that isn't always enough - as a supporter we can often carry the burden of those we love, stuck in a negative flat-spin. The supporter, can become victim of the suffering, due to a lack of knowledge and know-how.

My aim is to find a cohort of supporters and service providers who together can create a simple, friendly yet powerful toolkit to arm all 'supporters' in the basic skills needed to make a difference to someone's suffering.

The Shared-help Concept - A Toolkit for Supporters

Remember - even the smallest things can create the biggest impacts ... the ripples always reach the edge!

Together we can create a toolkit to provide supporters with knowledge, tips and guidance on the words they can use, the tactics they can suggest and build the skills they need to effectively support another, whilst protecting their own mental state.

Please do not be a second victim to those you love who are suffering. Get in touch if you're feeling overwhelmed and lost for what else you can do for a loved one - if you feel your support is making little or no progress.

If you feel strongly that the current system and services are not working for your loved one then please also get in touch!

You are NOT alone!

If you can offer help to create a Shared-help toolkit please get in touch. We can then offer a variety of training channels (#Dlive, #steemit and workshops) to help make a difference in this growing area of need.

Together we can do more.

With absolute love and kindness, DJ xx
