So you thought mayonnaise is only meant to be used as a spread on your burgers & sandwiches and as dressing in your salads? Well, think again.

High-school girls in Japan are using mayo as a hair conditioner and, as per them, it is the cheapest and most effective hair conditioner.

So how does that actually work? Well, surprisingly, mayo has all the qualities of a good hair conditioner.

Mayo primarily contains egg yolks, vegetable oil and vinegar/lemon juice. Egg yolk provides essential protein to the hair, vegetable oil provides a protective smooth outer coating to the hair and vinegar/lemon juice tightens the cuticles which leads to strengthening of the hair. And as if this wasn't enough, there are no other ingredients in mayo that could possibly damage your hair and also each of the three ingredients are food-grade as compared to the tens of chemicals in store-bought conditioners that are potentially toxic if accidentally ingested while being used.
