The inlet in the foreground is the "elbow of Arica", on the border between Chile and Peru, and the arid below is the famous Atacama desert!
Proprio su quelle montagne, sorge il telescopio piu grande del mondo, l' E-ELT ( European Extremely Large Telescope ), con un diametro dello specchio primario di 39mt.

Forse non ci si rende conto di quanto sia immenso, qua lo vediamo a confronto con il nostro amato Colosseo!
