How Do We Outgrow Our Problems?

Is possible that the root of most of our psychological problems are rooted in our obsession with ourselves?

I have found that as a culture our problems are often rooted in the over-identification of our individualism.

We spend so much time obsessing about our own lives that we lose sight of our connectedness.

I feel that much of our suffering comes from misperception. This misperception, in this case, is an imbalance of identity.

It is true we are individuals but it is also true that we are a collective.

I have heard this referred to as interbeing.

It is the understanding that our individualism can only exist because of our collective unity.

This means that we can not separate our collective identity from our personal one.

The more we have a clear perception of ourselves and the relationship to the world our state of being will experience a shift.

We will begin to experience life in a new light. We will take action and live according to the new understanding and I have found that this often times supports us in the process of transcending our individual issues.
