How to live with a child without material assistance from her husband?

After the divorce, I live with a five-year-old son in a grandmother's one-room apartment, where there have not been repairs for 25 years, if not more. Especially in a deplorable state room. I feel sorry for my son that he lives in such conditions.

I have no money for repairs, the ex-husband is not what does not help, even alimony does not always pay, because he does not have a permanent job because of his love of drinking. His parents, with whom we used to live, have a day, I know for sure, but when I asked at least to borrow, my mother-in-law answered that I can live with them, and that nobody drove me away. The fact that their son drinks, scandals in front of the child, they do not notice, they say that many now live like that, and nothing. Let many suffer, but I do not want to, I do not see the point!

Recently, my husband said that he was offered to work as a loader, someone to replace there for a while, and that he would give all the money he had earned for repairs, and even help himself. At first I did not believe it, but when he came almost sober on the weekend, he helped me to peel the wallpaper in the room, even brought a few sacks of plaster to seal a crack in the wall. I received an advance payment, bought new wallpaper, and waited for the promised money. But the ex-husband for some reason did not answer the calls, as it turned out later, he worked for two days, then went into drinking again. Naturally, in his place took another man. I just do not know what to do now, because I spent the last money on the wallpaper, and before the salary is still far away, and they pay now not on time, they delay the salary.

Then I decided to talk with my mother-in-law, asked for help, but I realized that she was in such a situation, she again offered to move to them, and to rent my apartment after repairs. I understand that she misses her grandson, wants her son to have a family, but I'm already tired of tolerating his addiction to alcohol. He does not want me anything, although he always promises that he will stop drinking, but I do not believe in it. I just do not know what to do, how to find a way out of the situation. It seems that there are many friends and acquaintances, we communicate well, but there is no one to help out. I have no mother, there is a stepmother who will not help me and will not allow my father. I do not blame her, who am I for her?
