Cambridge Race for Life Thousands Brave Heat to Conquer

Around four thousands women and childrens have braved the heat to take part in Cambridge's Race for Life.

The event, setting off from Jesus Green, aims to raise a quarter of a million pounds for Cancer Research UK.

Many of the runners had personal reasons for running, showing support for loved ones who've had cancer.

Today's race was the biggest such event in the east - fitting for a city which does much to combat cancer and is home to Cancer Research UK's purpose built lab at Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Last year in Cambridge, Cancer Research UK donated 54 million pounds to research in the city and we're doing some really pioneering work with that money.

"It really is making a big difference to patients right now and it will to many more in the future."
