No Better "You" Than You

Have you ever been in a situation where you wish to be someone else? Well, it does happen - and you could have these kind of thoughts; "why wasn't I born with silver spoon?", "why am I not from the north?", "why am I not born into Dangote's family?"... But sometimes, you could tend to forget that the place you are currently (though despised by you) is earnestly coveted and envied by someone else.

It is also worthy to note that life is not about competition; and we all have various points of destination in our life's journey, and as such, we are enroute differently. But amazingly enough, people tend to forget this fact; but instead, focus more on comparing other people's strengths with their own weaknesses. Imagine this scenario: You could be envying your friend that finished top of the class in college, while you just bagged a second class. But that your friend could also be envying you that you finished and got employment in a very reputable company with mouth-watering salary structure, while she could be carrying job applications up and down.

So you see; be the best of "you" and don't envy others. The truth is; if you want to be someone else; the best you can achieve is becoming a second. Take this example; No matter how the photocopy of a document is nicely done, it wouldn't still be qualified to be called an original.

A friend of mine once told me; Sammy, I wish I'm tall, I would've been a basketballer. But I have another friend that is almost a 7footer, with a shoe size beyond normal. Now he has a problem of getting a nice pair of shoes in the local stores - his shoes are specially designed for him, and he has to pay extra bucks for it; and he's wishing he's not too tall. So you see, whatever you think you are disadvantaged at, it is someone else's desires.
