FADE AWAY : A Suicide Awareness Story (Short Clip)

FADE AWAY

Before I introduce the story, I will tell you how we came to this first.
Last year, we were given a project for our finals in the ICT subject.
We were asked to make a short film that will make the viewers inspired and pick up a moral lesson.
Even though we are not really fond of acting, we did our best to produce a valuable short video.
We were only given 2 weeks to shoot and pass the project. It is hard to make it possible because we have different schedules and we just could not meet with a lot of time. However, we somehow managed to finish everything before the deadline. Because of this, we were given a high grades and passed the finals!

The video below is a CUT VERSION of the original video. The original video has 4:50 minutes in full length. We decided to cut the video to make it short, with our professor's knowledge, and pass it to our other subject which needs a 2 minutes short clip too.

The story was mine and the video was directed and edited by me :)

Here is the ORIGINAL story:

The story was focused on Zcesca, a smart girl who walks in a rocky road on her college days. She was once a cheerful girl until her classmates tainted her smile. Zcesca was bullied by this group of girls and take advantage of her. They ask her to make their projects and get mad if it's not yet done. In one scene, they were seen taking her into a room and forced her to give them all of her money. The girls even forced her to go with them in a club and do things she should not. They took pictures of her that night and threatened her that they will taint her "Ms. Good Girl" image with a scandal. With this blackmail, Zcesca was discouraged and remained weak.

After some time, Zcesca tried to expose them to their guidance office and seek help but the bullies heard of it. They assaulted her and threatened her that she will receive worse if she continue her plan. Their filthy hands marked her with bruises and a deep scar mentally and emotionally.

The poor girl went home and talked to her sister (Me), who's currently working that time. Her sister also hates her because their parents died because of Zcesca. She tried to seek help from her but in return, she was told that she's wasting her life by engaging in a stupid girls fight. Instead of comfort, Zcesca also felt hurt by the only family she has left, her sister.

She faced the mirror and called herself names. She blamed herself for being unable to speak and stand up against the world. She cried for being weak. She weeps as she gaze at her pathetic self in a mirror. All the pain she had summed up and led her to a tragic decision. She decided to take a rest. Forever.

She saved herself by taking her own life.

We chose to make a suicide awareness ad because we think that this is relevant. Honestly, our team has experienced bullying before, therefore, we can relate to Zcesca's story. Up on to this day, bullying still happen in schools, colleges and universities. Some people take advantage of the weak. Some plays dirty for no reason at all. They find bullying amusing. They find authority by being superior to the small ones. Those in power feel like they are entitled to hurt anyone beneath them. When in fact, bullying and assault make them look more pathetic and awful.

Yes, there are options. Victims should seek help from authorities and exploit the assailants.
Yes, the victim should stand up for their selves and fight.
But that is NOT always the case.
When you were trapped in fear and depression, and when you feel like there's nobody in this world you can run to.
No matter how hard you prayed. It won't stop.
Sometimes, they take DEATH as the answer.
They think committing suicide can stop it all and can save their selves from any more pain.
They may be viewed stupid and weak because they chose death, but that wasn't always true.

For me, the person has been strong for so long. They are so strong that they chose to end their lives to be finally free from this cruel world. What selfish is trapping them in a painful life and forcing them to participate in the life they never wanted. For the first time, they will think about their selves. They have the rights to be selfish this time.

And that, is Zcesca's story.

I don't want to end this post with any more negativity. For people out there, seek help. We already have a Suicide Prevention Hotline. Just call the HOPE HOTLINE (804-4673). Do not cradle the assailants, expose them to the authorities to properly give justice to what they did to you. It's time to stand up for ourselves and don't live as a victim forever. There is hope. Don't you give up just yet. Don't close your doors to what this beautiful world will give to you later on. Take time to heal, have fun, establish yourself and be strong. Have faith :)

To end this post, here's a picture of me and my classmates who became friends because of this project haha.
