Society has made us so obsessed with these banal things that is hard to turn it off sometimes.

I do get that sometimes we have no other choice, that some people do not work to live but they work to survive. And that's what we take for granted.
Having money is important, but no more important than living.
Money must not come first.
We must always do what we love.
