Lecture Hall. What is paleodieta and how did our ancestors really feed

Some say that the paleodieta, based on the food of our ancestors, is the right way to longevity. Others - that this theory is sucked from a finger. NV figured out what a paleodieta is and whether it's worth to think about it
The logic behind the paleodieta (or Paleolithic diet) is very simple. Our ancestors underwent a long evolutionary path, during which the organism adapted to a certain food.

So the supporters of paleodietists argue. There are more and more of them. As usual, they are joined by celebrities who are beginning to promote the newfangled diet from television screens and social networks. And they bring their own, hastily invented elements into it.

Not surprisingly, such a "self-made" diet is far from ideal from the point of view of professionals.

In 2015, the British Association of Dieticians even named the paleodiet of the worst of all popular diets.

But is it worth it to bury the very idea of creating a diet that is based on the principles of nutrition of primitive people? НВ has tried to understand this with the help of the Ukrainian geneticist Alexander Kolyada.

Paleodieta - what is it?
The idea of paleo-diet is very true - eat what your evolutionary ancestors ate.

Our bodies did not arise at the same time, but went a long way of evolution, including adaptation to food.

And if you want to understand what we have in general, the surest way is to look into the past and understand what we ate until the all-knowing Internet with its recipes of "proper nutrition" appeared.

Moreover, we have a real chance to understand what the ancestors of people ate based on the data of genetic studies and excavations.
