Why do my goals always fail?

I wanted to make a post to help everyone whether it's here on steemit.com or other areas of your life. This list isn't full proof or expansive enough to cover every possibility but it might help you stay on task when setting your sights on the future.

Do you focus on too many or too few things at once?

This can impact leisure time as well as spread yourself too thin to ever focus on a goal you set for yourself.  It's up to you which areas you want or need to focus on.  Be sure that you strike the right balance between different areas of your life.   This balance is different for everyone and can change over time depending on how much free time is available.

Do you set goals that are unrealistic?

This one is transitions to steemit very well as we all want to succeed but this may or may not happen and many variables are present that takes time and effort to overcome.   When exploring your goals, you need to unleash your imagination and ambition, put your reservations aside, and dream big  dreams. However, once you've decided on a goal, make sure that it is  realistic, and that you can actually achieve it in the time frame that you have set for yourself.

Do you account for the proper time it takes to reach your goals?

Goals just like hard work take a specific amount of time to reach and achieve.  You have to be realistic and not shortcut ways to the finish line.  If you think a report for instance is going to take you 5 hours to complete allow more time as distractions, interruptions, mental blocks, and or fatigue may prolong the completion of set goals.  Learning how to set a schedule can work wonders maximizing your time and effort in this area.

Do you set goals that are not your own?

Simply your goals need to be your own.  Other people, family, friends, and co-workers may have good intentions trying to influence your goals but their best intentions might not be what's best for you.  Make sure you do what you want to do.

Do you acknowledge when a failure occurs?

This is one of the hardest ones to learn to adapt to.  Sometimes pushing yourself over and over on the same goal will give you the same failed results no matter how many time you try.  Learning from failures is important to build your character.  Many lessons can be learned from each failure.  Don't be too upset if you fail just take note of where you went wrong and use that knowledge to reach your goals next time.

Do you review your progress?

Without reviewing progress you are left confused if completion or improvement should be made.  This is also a good time to update a specific goal and change it if need be.   You can set small sub-goals, celebrate your successes, and analyze what you need to do to keep moving forward.

Do you set negative goals for yourself?

Negative goals are emotionally unattractive, which makes it hard to focus on them.  If you can repackage any negative goal so that they sound positive and you may be surprised by the difference this can make.

Do you set too many goals?

This one I'm sure everyone has done before.  There is only so much time in a day and we all are guilty of jamming too many items that these goals can't possibly be fulfilled.  Best example of this would be you have a meeting that starts and 9 am and your kids have a doctors appointment at 9:15 am.
