Don't game your brain into a mental disorder.

4 years back while at University, I could not keep away from my PC which was loaded with all kinds of video games. I could use every single free time I could get to complete missions, and thanks to the free wireless at the time, whenever I would complete a game, I would download another and get absorbed in it till I completed it too. My life was all about games that I even started skipping classes to give some games time to work out hard tasks. Time came for exams and it was too late, my grades were so poor that semester. Video games had cost my academics heavily.

I came to realise that I had got addicted to gaming and started pulling my life back together by cutting the time I spent on them. This relates to millions of people around the world who can not do without gaming. People lose their marriages, jobs as a result of putting games first ahead of their life interests. It is this that pushed the WHO in the month of June this year, to classify gaming addiction as a mental disorder and it's now a diagnosable condition.

Gaming is not a bad way to spend leisure time as it is one of the best ways to improve our problem-solving skills in life. But when it comes to a level where the video games are prioritised ahead of life interests, then it is has turned into an addiction which is very harmful to our lives. One can even take a while to realise these harmful effects since they spend much of the time alone and their is limited space for someone to come and warn them about the wrong path they are taking.

Today gaming has become much easier since it is as easy as downloading a game on your mobile device, meaning a lot more people are risking getting addicted. To beat this, let's regulate the time we spend on games. Even the simplest of games like candy crush can have an adverse effect on our lives if we don't regulate them. Put a specific time frame for playing games daily and always consider activities which involve socialising with people more than gaming.
