STEEMIT: THE STEEM BLOCKCHAIN-LOCOMOTIVE

‘Another passenger of the steem-train- My take on Steemit and my experience so far’

-Introduction- Me

Hey, Steemers, my name is Matt, and even though I wrote posts before, I’m going to start over with this one.

I am currently an Economics (Bsc) undergraduate student, studying in Lancaster University (UK); and have been an active reader of Steemit for the past few months.

I’m a blockchain enthusiast and a (little) cryptocurrency trader and investor; as well as being in to sport/health and food, so this is mainly what I’ll be addressing in my posts.

-Main post- How I found Steemit, and my journey so far

For the last past years, I’ve been investigating and participating in blockchain-related activities, including trading of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Started off just trading BTC/USD as a hobby and ended up loving to learn more and more about the ‘cryptoverse’.

After the first few months I decided to expand my knowledge and start investigating Altcoins (alternative coins); so, I subscribed to a free Podcast: ‘Let’s talk Bitcoin’.

It was through this podcast that I found out about an amazing blog that paid people for writing as well as for commenting relevantly, I had found: STEEMIT.

-MAIN- What so far?

I started off thinking of writing few posts and making quick gains… I hadn’t understood that Steemit is more that it’s reward; it’s a blog, a place where relevant crypto-related posts as well as general people’s interests and views can be shared and are not censured by governments and media.

I started off by deciding to become a active member of the community so I transferred the equivalent at the time of $15 in STEEM and convert it into Steem power (long term investment that gives you higher curator power, and that later can be reconverted in to STEEM).

Now, (Second week of May 2017), my account value is around $76.64, as I earned STEEM Power through comments as well as appreciation of STEEM (main currency), making a total gain of around 61.64 (310.9%). (https://steemit.com/@matteopoole/transfers)

-Conclusion and reflections- What you should take away from this.

In conclusion, STEEMIT is not to be treated as an investment (and this is not what this post is about), but rather as a community full of people that dedicate time to sharing opinions; and why not make some money by being active members of it?
