6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You Want To Reconsider Your Job

source

After college, the society told you to get a job, make more money and keep on working until you are 65 years old.

That time when you can no longer hike that mountain, and when you can’t even appreciate the view because of your eye cloudiness.

Would you like that?

If you don’t want to admit, let me tell it straight to your face “You don’t”

Nobody wants to work doing a job they hate.

To help you out, let me write it down for you.

Below are the reasons why you should reconsider your job.

1. You only live once

As cliche as it sounds, it is the truth. You have limited time in this World, so why work on something that makes you unhappy and exchanges your time for it?

If you are working a regular 9am-5pm job, that’s 40 hours per week you are losing. If you started working at 21 and retired at 65 years old that’s about 91,540 hours. And on those forty-one years, you only get 1 vacation per year.

Yeah, only one.

Which directs me to point number 2.

2. Your children will not get any younger

Don’t you want to hear your son’s first word? Or maybe see his first steps?

I bet you do!

These are the moments that you will smile about when you are on that deathbed. Not the time you waste on being scolded by your boss.

Or being talked about by your officemates because you got promoted.

Find a way to be on your child’s milestone.
You wouldn’t regret it, I promise!

3. Commuting every day sucks up a lot of your time

You woke up at 5.

Prepare your clothes.

Take a shower.

Bring that bread while you run away and run for the jeep or bus or fall in line to the MRT.

Then spend an hour stuck in traffic… getting stress looking at your watch every minute.

Is that something you would want to do for the next 40 years?

Probably not.

4. You aren’t being appreciated as much as you should

Remember when you were a kid, and you did this tiny little thing, but still get praises from your parents?

Yeah, that felt awesome.

And as a grown-up, you want to felt that too.

That you bring something to the company. That you are making an impact.

That you are important.

5. They don’t help you grow

You are doing the same thing every day and you start to get bored.

They don’t give you new things to do which makes you stagnant.

The job is not challenging, and you feel like a hamster running a mill.

6. You are getting older

Let’s face it, everyone will get old and die.

And you aren’t exempted to that.

There will be a time that you can no longer be the breadwinner.

Make a life and don’t wait for your retirement.

Life is meant to live.

I am not telling you to quit your job.

I am encouraging you to find that job that makes you happy.

That will let you be flexible with your time.

The internet has been one of the great inventions ever made.

Use it to your advantage.

If you are being for a job that you have now, more likely, someone will pay you to do it for them online (if it’s possible)
