Today, we shall be discussing directing, motivating and management of human resources.

Human resources managenent

*This the process of feeling the position in an organisation structures through identifying workforce requirement, recruitment, selection, placement, compensation and training of needed people to carry out business activity in an effective way.
One of the ways to manage human resources includes STAFFING
Staffing is the act of assigning workers to enterprise operation so as to enhance day to day running of the business without hindrance.

The manager of the farm must develop a strategic staffing plan that could enhance them to fulfill the set objectives of the agribusiness organisation.

Ways of inputting labour or staff

• Advertising in news paper
• Recruiting through person already in the organisation or through friends
• Considering the person who knock at the door of the organisation

What to be considered when staffing

➡ Job experience
➡ Personal data of the applicant. E.g. educational background
➡ Special interest
➡ Salary history.
➡ Mental alertness
➡ Degree of professionalism
➡ Language efficiency
➡ Quickness of judging
➡ Sense of value

DIRECTING

This is about motivating, guiding, leading, executing and supervising the business organisation.
It is an important management function which make the people to engage in various positions to move towards achieving goals and objectives.
Direction in business involves the following;

  • Assigning duty and responsibility to personnel
  • Establishing the result to be achieved
  • Delegating the necessary authority
  • Creating a desire for success
  • Supervising that the job is done properly by the worker

Instruction is important for proper direction of the business organisation from the top management down to the lower worker.

Features of instruction and order

  • must be very clear and understandable
  • it should be unidirectional, top to the bottom of the operating unit
  • instruction must be time specific, given when needed, get to the least worker at the right time.
  • it must be check whether the instruction has been carried out into action and objective is achieved

It is note worthy that some instructions are negative and thereby issue to prohibit certain actions, thereby release to enhance business operations.

MOTIVATION

It is the direction of goal of an individual or the behavior towards achieving a set goals, all the personnel in the agribusiness organisation should be reoriented towards achieving the objective of the business.
Certain actions should be taken towards directing effectiveness of the business such as promotion on time, better working conditions and so on. The organisation of the farm business have to motivate the staff towards better utilization of resource and move the business to the right direction in order to achieve his goal and objectives of the agribusiness.
