âJealousy works because it happens without us realizing itâs happening, or without looking deeper into whatâs happeningâ â Albert Brown. Jealousy has an overwhelming power over us, usually unseen. When it comes, it lingers, itâs something we canât fight.
When we are in love, we can experience jealousy at various times in our relationship. Occasionally itâs natural for us to be protective of someone that we deeply care about. But one of the adverse effects of jealousy is that it can consume you, it makes you think of different scenarios that most of the time are not true.
It can make you start having trust issues. It can become a really big problem in a relationship.
Relationships are not the only victim of jealousy, also being envious of your peers when they get to a level you think is higher than yours, or when your co-worker gets a promotion at the office are various areas were jealousy creeps in. Jealousy constantly fed by negativity eventually turns to hatred.
If you think you are in danger of letting your jealous attitude damage your relationship or just your everyday living, Iâd run you through a couple ways on âHow to Overcome Jealousyâ
Personally, I have been a victim of jealousy. I was never really content with what I had and anytime I see my peers get something that I couldnât, SNAP! I become jealous and itâs funny how the feeling always started from my stomach. I donât know if everyone had/has the same feeling.
Was I insecure? What was I afraid of? Ultimately as time went on, I came to realise that jealousy, greed & envy wonât get you very far in life, because youâll always feel discontent and unhappy about yourself, your life and the people around you.
When others succeed, you should be happy. If they can do it, so can you. The success of others does not, in any way, lessen the chances of you succeeding. It all depends on your mind-set. If anything, it should serve as a source of motivation to keep you pushing forward. Someone elseâs victory is not your defeat.
Be happy, Be content with what you have, Be happy with what you have while working for what you want.
One of the very first things you should also do is to quit lying to yourself. Accepting the fact that you are being over-jealous is key. Being in a state of denial never helps.
Remember that jealousy wonât achieve anything anyway. If you really sit down to think about it, what benefit do you gain by being jealous, other than overthinking, worrying and so on. Why waste all that time and energy on being jealous, when itâs not going to yield you anything?
Think about all the times you were jealous, but at the end your intuition and thinking was wrong. How did you feel afterwards? Sometimes we tend to let our emotions cloud or judgements and then take certain actions that are hard to fix or become unfixable. Even though youâve been through a lot of bad experiences, always remember that people are not the same.
We need to try as much as possible to get rid of hate, envy, jealousy, so we can prepare our mind for positivity only then can we feel that time has come for human happiness.
