Showering when you have roommates is no cup of hot water.

Anyone that reads my blog knows that I have two roommates.

We are three guys sharing a house together.

There are two bathrooms and a kitchen sink.......

These are the main areas where hot water will get used.

A couple of years ago the hot water heater broke and we replaced it with one that is quite likely too small.

If conditions are right you have about 7 minutes to take a hot shower.

If conditions are wrong then you have much less time than 7 minutes. Given that we all live together there are many opportunities for conditions to go wrong.

Nobody likes to take a cold shower in the winter.

Anyone that has ever had roommates knows that the moment you start your shower somebody else will decide that they also want to take a shower.

It's also at that point that someone will do a hot load of laundry and then turn on the dishwasher and also flush the toilet over and over again.

The shower is easily one of the biggest points of contention between roommates.

Of course you could say......

"Hey man didn't you know that I was just about to get in the shower?" but then again you don't exactly have exclusive shower rights either.

Anybody can shower whenever they want to. That's the beauty of living in a free society.

It's also a big drawback of having roommates. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having roommates.

In a lot of ways it's a great thing because you save money and there's always someone there to talk to about anything.......... and 100 other reasons.

However, when it comes to showering I think I'd rather live alone.

Showering when you have roommates is no cup of hot water.
