Genius or Bad Dad?

Do you ever have one of those ideas or hear one that just sounds too good to be true? You keep milling it over in your head debating on if it will really work or it will end up wasting more time than it will save? I run into that dilemma every year when it comes to the Christmas tree. Everyone wants a tree, to get that Christmas vibe going, but it always ends up being a lot of work or at least in our house it does.

Each ornament unwrapped and placed on the tree before heading out to get the years new one or sitting down to craft some for the year. 25+ years of ornaments taken out of the box and placed on the tree, year in and year out. Adding at least seven every year for the ones at home and every few years packing up a box for one of the kids to take to their new home.

This year we tried something different, the first present of the year to myself and my wife from the both of us to both of us.

The event that follows makes me wonder if I have taken away from the yearly celebration. Will this allow us much needed time next year or will it be an event that is missed?

I know, I enjoyed this method much more than the normal yearly holiday wrap up

Putting the tree up this year before Christmas took 6 hours between getting everything out of the attic, un-boxing, unwrapping the ornaments, placing them on the tree and doing the lights

Putting the tree away this year took 15 minutes from start to finish
