Too often do we hear about cutthroat business practices and amoral millionaires, an exceptional exception to these black-hearted barons would be Harris Rosen. Rosen is a natural entrepreneur and philanthropist at heart. He had worked for Disney before buying his first hotel in central Florida, from there he went on to make millions and eventually own the largest privately-owned chain of hotels in Florida. After he made his fortune he established the “Harris Rosen Scholarship” which pays for the college tuition of every child that graduates from the Tangelo Park High School. The graduation rate at the Tangelo Park high school went from 25% to shocking 100%, and the crime rate in the surrounding community was cut in half, the community maintains those numbers year after year. In 2016, Harris Rosen instituted a similar program in the Paramore District, not far from downtown Orlando. Rosen truly is a magnanimous man whose charitable character sets him apart from most of the modern business world.
