Opening ceremony with a Tagung @ Gong performance by the Sindikau's Children
On 31st May 2018, our big family celebrates Kaamatan @ Harvest Festival together at my uncle's house. It was an opportunity for us to gathering together because it was a public holiday for Sabahan and some of us live abroad and far away.
Two weeks before the celebration, we make a family shirt. The shirt is written with "Sinakagon Sindikau". It means " Sindikau Big Family".

Our main events on that time of course to gather and eats. The day before the event, we set up the tent together. We also bergotong-royong together to cook.
On that day, we start our event with prayer and praise songs. After that, we heard the word of God. We also make activities such as lucky draw, Sugandoi a.k.a Singing competition in our language (Dusun Songs), have a gong (Mangaggung) playing competition and traditional cooking contest.
The lucky draw prizes. You can spot the Sugandoi prize on the floor. 1st prize Stand Fan, 2nd mini stand fan, 3rd cooking stove. For the Traditional cooking contest, 1st prize get RM50, 2nd RM40 and 3rd RM30. Only one winner for Gong competition (6 peoples for a group) and the prize is RM60

We really enjoy our Big Family Kaamatan celebration. I hope next year, this celebration will keep going on.
