Jeff you are right to be very skeptic. At this point, nobody can be sure that we have been to the Moon. We need strong evidence about it and not just believers or third party witnesses.
It is very suspicious that they want to send sometone to Mars but not to the Moon again. A Moon landing would be a reasonable thing to do especially because they need to test a new space travel technology and there are human lives at risk.
The problem is that now everybody with a modern telescope would be able to see a landing on the Moon. So they say that they send people to Mars so nobody can check if it is true or not because Mars is too far away.
They are already preparing fake images of bases on Mars thanks to Google. Check here:
And they tested the necesary special video effects in Hollywood with the movie "The Martian".
And now they are ready to scam the taxpayer again with the help of people like Elon Musk.
