Ms. Janice Hung Inspires the 2000 Students of St. Louis College

Ms. Janice Hung always says that she wants to inspire and empower people. On February 10, I had the privilege to witness how passionate and sincere Ms. Janice Hung is in making people happy and inspired.

Ms. Janice Hung was invited as a special guest in the 40th Foundation Day of St. Louis College Valenzuela. To make the celebration more special, she was asked to have a Wushu performance for the 2000 students of the school.

The program was set to start at around 10am. The call time of Ms. Janice was 9am. We arrived at the school as early as 5am. She wanted to be there early so she can check the stage, the setup, and so that she can do some preparations and technical rehearsals. This shows the work ethics of Ms. Janice Hung. In anything she does, she wants everything to go smooth and perfect. She doesn’t only want to give 100%; she wants to give more than what is expected of her.

As she was introduced to the crowd, all the people, especially the young ones cheered for her. There were shouts of joy and excitement all over the place. Some of them even called her “Ether”, the name of the character she portrayed in the phenomenal Philippine TV series, Encantadia. I felt the warm welcome and I felt how the people loved to see her. Her presence alone can give people a sense of joy.

Ms. Janice started with her Wushu performance. As I watched her, I can see the focus, the passion, perfection and the love for what she was doing. The crowd continued to cheer especially when they were amazed with her moves but Ms. Janice never got distracted.

In moments when Ms. Janice is given a chance to inspire people, she takes the opportunity. She was asked to have a Wushu performance but she gave more than what she was expected to do. She delivered a brief but very empowering and inspiring talk about her journey in Wushu, about reaching for your dreams, believing in yourself and not giving up. When she delivered her talk, she also made sure to interact with her audience. She asked the students who among them trained and failed; and studied but the grades were not good. A lot reacted as they could relate with the questions. Then, with conviction and passion, Ms. Janice Hung said, “Never ever give up because the only time you fail is when you give up.”

That line is her life testimony because as she shared in her previous blogs, her journey was not easy; but if she has a million reasons to give up, she has a billion reasons not to give up. She said that even when 99% of the people around her told her to quit, it is that remaining 1% of belief in herself made her successful in her craft and reach her dreams.

Other than her exceptional Wushu performance, it is the sharing of her journey and the life lessons she learned along the way that will definitely leave a mark in the hearts and minds of the students and all people listening to her. What she shared will surely inspire them to work harder to achieve their dreams regardless of the challenges they face.

After her performance, inspirational talk and interview for a TV network, a lot of people approached her to have a picture with her taken. Some of them told her how they were inspired by what she shared. A thing that makes me amazed is when I see in her that she remains humble despite her fame and achievements. When you encounter Ms. Janice, you will never feel a “celebrity complex” in her. She treats all people with kindness. Other than that, she appreciates the good gestures of the people she meets, too.

This little girl was sincerely happy to see Ms. Janice.

Lastly, I commend Ms. Janice because despite the fact that she was tired and she lacked sleep, she managed to give more than her 100% to her performance, inspirational talk, interview, and interaction with people. I feel so blessed to witness Ms. Janice Hung in this kind of event. As I get to see her behind social media, the more I appreciate her as a person. I don’t just see her as a celebrity. I see her as a role model and inspiration to all, especially to the youth.
