When will Italy's next General election be?

Italy has been thrown into political crisis following the defeat of the constitutional referendum in Italy and the resignation of Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. Although the next general election isn't due until 2018, the populist 5-Star movement is urging for an early elections in 2017. In order for early elections to be called, Italian parties will have to work together on new electoral laws. Italy's foreign minister, Paolo Gentiloni has been chosen by President Mattarella as the new PM and mandated with reforming the electoral laws. Libdem.jpg
