Imagine facing a $100k+ bill for parking on your own property.
This has happened to one family in Florida, who live in a community where they are prohibited from being able to park on their own front yard space.
That homeowner who found out about the $100k in fines she was facing was able to teem up with the Institute for Justice and has sued the Florida town for excessive fines in an effort to help fight back against this arguably unconstitutional activity which can cripple Americans and completely devastate families.
The Florida Constitution forbids excessive fines and they will be bringing this fight to court trying to fight back against this injustice.
After the lawsuit was filed over this issue she was successful and won her first round of lawsuits, as the State court decided to turn down the attempts of the town to have the lawsuit dismissed.
For now the case is still open.
