Rules of the Seas

Admirals are commanders of fleets. We may or may not travel with our fleets but I'm one who likes to be in where the action is.

But how do I make decisions?
What do I , as Admiral, base proper conduct?

Maritime Law

Aye, mateys.

We have rules we abide by. We have oceans of laws, rules, statutes and case precedents established for issues on maritime affairs.

The seas have laws, as do land. Maritime law governs the sea and seaport activities. Especially so on commerce. Even the administration of ships is under maritime law:

  • licensing and registration
  • inspections and insurance
  • contracts

Admiralty Law

Admiralty Law is another term for maritime law.

Here on Steemit, there's a lot scalawags running amok. As admiral, it is my duty to make them walk the plank. It is unfortunate that the responsibilities of the commander is grave at times. But it must be done.

But The Seas Are Vast

Aye, matey.

That is a valid point. There are many admirals from many different nations. The rules of one might be the same as other nation's. Then some rules would be different for every nation.

In the seas, whose rule will it be?

Affirmative. What flag are you waving? That is the question.

If she's flying France's flag, the French law applies even when the ship is sailing in another country's jurisdiction. I'm not going to talk about the International Law of the Sea yet. But I will in the future.

Suffice it to say that I'm flying the flag of Steemit. And there are rules, written and unwritten.

Just stand firm and enjoy the waves.

Ahoy, mateys!

Last time I got visited by cheetah. I am a smart admiral, I don't make the same mistake twice. Arrrr!
