Ice drift on the Sukhona river (new photos)

The ice drift on the Sukhona in the Veliky Ustyug area began on April 20 at 9.30 am. This year the ice on the river went uneasy, with frequent stops. Above the current 60 km from Ustyug, a strong ice congestion was formed in the area of the Opoki-Kalikino and the water levels there are very high.

Now everything is calm and quiet in Veliky Ustyug - the river is practically clean.

But the reasons for the alarm remain due to congestion, because if it breaks, then the second wave of flooding can raise the water level to critical levels.

And then on the river there will be much more ice, as it was at the very beginning of the ice drift.

As, for example, in this photo.

According to meteorologists, a third wave of floods is also expected - due to large snow reserves in the forests, the water level may rise again.

In the meantime, you can relax - the bulk of the ice went far to the north.

P.S .: Today I'm going to the place of ice jam in Opoki.
