It was my first time back to Pony Finals in Lexington, Kentucky since I showed at Pony Finals (which was way back in 2004). Wow, so much has changed!
The Walnut ring at the Kentucky Horse Park is like a dream... The ponies, kids, parents, and trainers get to enjoy sitting ringside in the VIP watching the rounds go all day long.
The riders and ponies make this long walk 'up the hill' to get to the in gate of the Walnut Ring.
The ponies only get one round 'over fences' in this ring, so it can be quite stressful and challenging, especially for the little ones... But as they say, practice makes perfect, and the kids that keep coming back year after year can become quite the experts at this event.
Where I stayed: A vintage equestrian estate with a few of the horse trainers that came in from Florida.
This pink southern two story home was quite hospitable with quite an equestrian history.
The owner of this home is big into Saddlebreds, known as the 'Horse America Made', which explains the beautiful equestrian detail and saddlebred accessories throughout. In fact, if you're in Lexington, be sure to check out the largest collection of Saddlebred artifacts at the American Saddlebred Museum at the Kentucky Horse Park.
Fun at Pony Finals
The shopping and parties are geared towards the kids, which really makes it fun. I enjoyed helping my friend Stacie with 'Belle and Bow Equestrian' Boutique - the best part was watching the kids come in and pick out their 'lucky bows' for riding at Pony Finals. 
It was also the launch of my new venture as an artist where I displayed canvases, pillows, and prints from Ashley Cagle Co.
One of the most exciting events at Pony Finals is the Golf Cart Parade. The kids, parents, and trainers deck out their golf cart as if it was going in the Macy's Day parade (you'd think!)
Our favorite was the 'Run for the Roses' Kentucky Derby inspired golf cart. Talk about great equestrian style and full of detail! What was your favorite?
What to do in Lexington, KY in the Evenings:
Check out the new lifestyle center in Lexington, The Summit at Fritz Farm, it's full of shopping, activities, and dining. It's great fun for the entire family!

We spotted some painted horse shoes at Kentucky For Kentucky boutique inside 'The Barn' at Summit at Fritz Farm...
Also: did you know, the Ariat store just opened and is the 2nd store to open in the United States aside from their flagship in California? Wow it was beautiful...
From the double barn door entrance to the equestrian style merchandising, Ariat should win an award for the best Equestrian Boutique in Lexington, Kentucky!
The new Draper James store by Reece Witherspoon is also a southern staple at the Summit at Fritz Farm. If you're looking for a classic style, check out Draper James and put it on your list to shop for the Keeneland Fall meet!
Where We Dined in Lexington, KY
The Pasture: A tasty local 'grab n go' spot at The Barn at Summit at Fritz Farm. Be sure to get the fried pickles and 'superfood' side... Scrumptious!
Honeywood: A trendy restaurant featuring classic comfort dishes with modern flair, cocktails & patio seating. For a Kentucky-inspired comfort meal, try the pot roast!
OBC Kitchen: A stylish restaurant offering updated Southern fare, craft beer & an extensive bourbon list. Get the Wood Grilled Mahi - it's TO DIE For!
Overall it was a winning experience to get to be at Pony Finals in Lexington, Kentucky even as an adult. Nothing beats the beautiful Bluegrass in the summertime!
