SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE CONCENTRATION

The subject of the Concentration is quite simple in theory, but complex to put it into practice, because it requires a lot of intrinsic effort, combined with an adequate cerebral performance; which is why most human beings have difficulty concentrating.

Understanding in a simple way that Concentration is a personal state of fixing or focusing the thought, the word and the action on something, without being distracted or dispersed; then, it can be understood that the internal distractions and the environment of the person, are all things that affect concentration and even cause the lack of attention, with demotivation, hyperactivity, reluctance, impulsivity and negativity of the human being.

Immediate Solutions

1.- If there is a lot of noise in your environment, use earplugs or noise aids. You can also "acclimate" with classical or instrumental music at low volume or with the use of headphones.

2.- If your concentration is affected by environmental factors such as heat, cold, bad smells or lighting problems, among others; it is recommended to solve all the pleasant atmosphere first, to be as concentrated as possible.

3.- If the deconcentration is due to fatigue, it is recommended to stop doing what is being done and give the brain and the body a short rest of between 5 and 30 minutes, and then continue more rested and focused.

4.- It is essential to do one thing at a time, until the work is finished; which helps improve concentration and convince the brain to complete an activity before starting another.

5.- If some kind of distraction suddenly appears to interrupt your concentration; you must verify as quickly as possible the origin, causes and degree of importance of it; Once confirmed the inconsistency of the fact, you must immediately order your brain to remain focused on the activity that is performed.

Medium Term Solutions

1.- A good technique is to record the day and time, each time you discover that you have been distracted, to keep track of the times you lose concentration. By doing so, after a while the brain will begin to order automatically to increase concentration, avoiding distractions more frequently.

2.- Clearly identify the vocation and style of learning and performance that you have, to try to always do what is to your liking, because the activities not in accordance with our tastes are boring and prone to distraction. You should know if it is more visual or more auditory to focus on your most appropriate style.

3.- Plan mentally the time and activities, to organize and define the rhythm of your daily activities based on the important, urgent and priorities.

4.- Define the hours of the meals so that the mind is distracted, wanders and disengages; for that, repeat for yourself that you have that time allotted to distract you.

5.- Perform daily physical exercises, because it is a routine that helps oxygenate the brain and improve concentration.

Long Term Solutions

1.- Accustomed to sleep 8 hours at night and at least one hour at daytime, and make brief breaks or stretches of 5 minutes per hour of activities; because the biggest factor that affects concentration is fatigue and the mind tends to be scattered if it has not rested well.

2.- Maintaining a controlled, balanced, light and healthy diet helps maximize the ability to concentrate.

3.- Meditating periodically helps to improve concentration.

4.- Practice consciously and at all times, forcing the brain to concentrate, because the more you practice the better the concentration will be day by day.

5.- Learn to use the technique of the keyword related to the activity that is carried out; to use it when it is decentered, immediately invoke that keyword repeatedly and it will instantly refocus.
