"Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy", said Jesus in Matthew 5:7. Meaning, examples, importance and commentary.

The beatitude in Matthew 5:7 tells us about the importance of mercy. By the law of the return (you reap what you sow, Galatians 6:7-8) the spiritual gifts returns blessings, and in this case mercy returns mercy.
Jesus teach us that mercy is way, truth, life (John 14:6). It's way because we all have a ranking of mercy, the mercy is progressive, tend to improvement, to betterment. Is truth because it's the precise and the accurate.

Mercy is define as compassion, amability, benevolence, benedicence, kindness, affability. There are many parables reffering to mercy: the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15: 11-32) and the parable of the good samaritan (Luke 10: 25-37), for example.
The beatitude of the mercy explain to us that the mercy is a goal by itself, has retribution in this life and in the one that comes, that is why we talk about "progressive mercy": "And exercise thyself unto godliness; for bodily exercise is profitable for a Little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life which is now, and of that which is to come" 1 Timothy 4:7.
Mercy is essential for the life of man, the bliss is expressed in another way: "Do not judge, and you will not be judge. Do not condemn, and you will not condemn. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you", Luke 6:37
We receive what we give. The mercy is a spiritual gift, a promise and a blessing: "live the mercy to receive mercy", this is the true message of the kingdom of God and the sermon on the Mount: be happy and be blessed. When we live the mercy is because we search the correct and the best for ourselves and our neighbor.
The beatitude of the mercy also emphasizes that the minimization of the suffering is an ethical objective, mercy is the path to happiness. The minimization of the suffering is the most important externalization of mercy. We help others and ourselves to live better. People without mercy are heartless people and gives rise to the impiety and hate.
