Anderson Japanese Gardens is located at 318 Spring Creek Road in Rockford, Illinois. Rockford is located in Winnebago County in north central Illinois.
A Rockford businessman by the name of John Anderson had visited the Portland Japanese Garden and, in 1978, set about building one on property he owned in Rockford. In 1998 John, and his wife, Linda, donated the gardens to the Rockford Rotary Charitable Association. It is operated as a non-profit entity.
It is open to the public for a fee and provides guided tours or wander around on your own. Maps are provided and you can purchase food to feed the koi in the ponds.
