IOTA cooperates with InnoEnergy in the Smart Energy Community

The IOTA Foundation (IOTA) and InnoEnergy Scandinavia (InnoEnergy) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will enter into force this month. The two parties will work together to develop intelligent community solutions and innovate business models.

As part of this partnership, the IOTA Foundation will streamline access to its Tangle technology to strengthen the capabilities of InnoEnergy and ÖBO to implement pilot projects and explore intelligent business models.

Wilfried Pimenta, Head of Business Development at the IOTA Foundation: "This partnership puts tangle technology where it belongs: in practice, where it enables IoT devices and intelligent community models. Innoenergy's proactive, cooperative and open approach makes it a great partner for Iota and its growing ecosystem to help shape and present the potential of the engineering industry.

Xue Wang, Business Developer, Product Owner of EVe at InnoEnergy Scandinavia: "The cooperation between InnoEnergy, IOTA Foundation and ElaadNL in implementing the Tangle Distributed Ledger technology in the testbed will facilitate the development of intelligent community energy markets. Citizens will be able to use decentralised, clean energy/E-mobility services with a transparent, autonomous and secure transaction and data management system". (Press release Iota)

Taipei confirms that it tests IOTA Tech for Citizen ID

Taiwan's capital Taipei is working with the IOTA Foundation to include Tangle in its citizen identification plans.

Wei-bin Lee, Commissioner of the Ministry of Information Technology, confirmed that Taipei will partner with IOTA and the local start-up BiiLabs for its Digital Citizen Card project. Taipei will specifically use IOTA's Tangle ID service for several projects, he said, although it did not go beyond the Digital Citizen project. According to CrowdFund Insider, the digital citizen card serves as a tamper-proof identification system and protects users from identity theft.

UN Division relies on IOTA Ledger Tech for greater efficiency

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is working with the IOTA Foundation to see how the UN project's distributed ledger technology can help streamline its operations.

UNOPS announced the partnership on Tuesday and said that the two organisations want to increase the efficiency of the UN office through the use of IOTA's Tangle technology.

The IOTA Qubic Project

After much speculation, the time has come to shed light on one of the eagerly awaited developments within the IOTA community: Qubic.

In the course of time Qubic has developed into something significantly different than the original quorum-based coin idea, which was coined on bitcointalk September 2012. The most obvious change is that there is now a working protocol that serves as a messaging and payment system: IOTA.

The original Qubic idea had some hard to overcome problems. The IOTA protocol was created to solve these problems. In fact, IOTA was developed to become the global standard for IoT messages and payments. Qubic follows this standard and is intended to enable the following:

A way to communicate securely with the outside world in a trusted environment;
A powerful, distributed cloud computing platform for building complex IoT applications;
A novel smart contract that collects micropayments in real time during the term;
A reward system for incentives to honestly participate in the Tangle
Norway's largest financial group, DNB ASA, cooperates with the IOTA Foundation
DNB ASA and the IOTA Foundation signed a cooperation agreement to promote open innovation and co-creation in the areas of civic innovation, machine economics and decentralized data markets. The two parties will work together to explore the new digital innovation landscape made possible by IOTA Tangle technology.

DNB ASA is Norway's largest financial services group and one of the largest in Scandinavia in terms of market capitalisation. DNB, which has researched block chain and distributed ledger technologies (DLT) via the R3 consortium, is now working with the IOTA Foundation to explore the Iota Tangle, an open source technology that goes beyond block chain.
