Hello,
My name is Warwick O'Neill and I am an Australian author, focusing mainly on Australian Historical Fiction. I've been privileged to have been born in the most wonderful country on Earth (in my humble opinion) and have had a life-long fascination in all things that have gone into making us the people we are. My main interest is in our military history, primarily World War 1, but anywhere that young Australians have gone to fight I want to learn about it.
In my past I've been a soldier, a mechanic, sound and lighting technician, security guard, dog handler, car wash manager and long term Government employee. I've often thought that by now I should've figured out what I want to be when I grow up, but recently it has occurred to me that I actually don't want to grow up. I read somewhere that if you haven't grown up by the age of 40, then you don't have to. So I'm sweet on that.
It does appear though that this authoring thing might be the thing that I'll do for the rest of my life and hopefully I will be able to make a living from it. I'm not keen on the whole 'starving artist' thing. Also on the to-do list this year is to learn the ancient art of blacksmithing, which of course will lead to a book, but I'll also be keeping you up to date on the progress of that.
I like to spend my spare time (tragically not enough of it) exploring the bush, throwing down the swag and taking in the million star view. Always keen to find new tracks to drive and new hidden locations to experience.
But that'll do for now by way of an introduction. Hopefully you'll get to know me better by following what I'm up to, and I'd love it if you leave some comments and tell me about yourself so I can get to know you too.
Cheers
