Introduction of an Oneironaut

Hello, there!

I've heard that it's customary to introduce yourself, here on steemit, and I very much look forward to getting started with putting out some content here.

My name is James, though online I mainly go as SpaceTimeBadass. I am a lucid dreamer and have been since late 2009. A lucid dream is a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming, as the dream plays out in real time. This is scientifically verified and has been since the late 1970s/early 1980s, for my fellow skeptics (see Dr. Keith Hearne & Dr. Stephen LaBerge's work). But, the fact that it's been scientifically proven certainly hasn't stopped the spiritual community from spreading as much misinformation as possible, for the last several decades. This issue is really at the heart of my work, these days.

I've been posting lucid dreaming videos on my youtube channel since late 2012. Generally, I discuss the lesser talked about topics. Basically, I'm not a fan of covering the same old 'how to' information, so I do my absolute best to explore and explain the topics in the niche which, I believe, have more depth. I also act as a guinea pig in some of my videos, reviewing various herbs and supplements that are meant to cause lucid dreams; a bit of harm reduction. And, boy, have I had some bad experiences. When I started this whole lucid dreaming thing, I was completely taken in by the spiritual, metaphysical claims that go along with it. But, luckily, over time and a desire to find the truth, I put these claims to the test. This resulted in becoming an atheist and beginning to work on clearing up as much of the misinformation as possible (not bad for a guy who had his first lucid dream as a result of a mushroom trip, eh?).

Aside from working on my own channel, I've also been a writer, editor, and presenter for Team Lucid Dream (another lucid dreaming youtube channel and website). I occasionally write articles for thelucidguide.com and world-of-lucid-dreaming.com. I've also been working on a lucid dreaming book the past couple of years, which will be published in the next few months, if all goes well. The book begins where most books on the topic end. Rather than teaching you how to lucid dream, it focuses on how to hone your skills and get what you want out of your dreams, once you already know how. I also share a lot of information about using it for personal growth, new perspectives, emotional healing, profound experiences, etc (all with a secular, rational view!). I'm very excited to get it out and launch my website, so no doubt I will make a post the second those things occur.

Overall, I'm just a passionate lucid dreamer who loves to help others in the area of my interest. It's likely that I will post more lucid dreaming content here on steemit, but I'd also like to use this opportunity to explore other topics that I don't really have the freedom to post about on my youtube.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope to interact with some of you very soon!
