Hi steemians, I want to introduce you to PRO-LGBT, we are a group organized to support the LGBT community of Steemit. For those who do not know the vocabulary, I'll talk about the meaning of LGBT.
The acronym LGBT, are initials that make up the following words: (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual).
In the 1940s, there was no connotation for people who were not heterosexual. The closest word was "third sex." But in Germany they already defined the word homosexual and bisexual in medical terms, and the words Lesbian was the first to be mentioned without negative connotations.
On many occasions, within the gay and lesbian communities concepts have been mistakenly referred to as bisexual, thinking that they are homosexual people who have not wanted to come out of the closet, but this is a misconception, since the bisexual person feels attraction for both sexes , regardless of whether the attraction is greater for one than for another.
For the 70s and 80s the LGBT community was not very accepted, since they thought that AIDS came from these people, another misconception, since it was discovered that AIDS is a disease of more than 100 years ago, not discovered but until much later, when in Africa the first diagnoses were made.
In the 2000s, new terms emerged that include intersex, queer, pansexual and asexual people, extending the acronym to LGBTQIA.
However, the LGBTQIA community has been strongly criticized by the heterosexual world, giving way to non-profit LGBT organizations to guide and defend this great community.
Sexual orientation is a very broad subject, which must be respected and know how to live with all genders. Whether we are in college or at work, we must respect all these people.
