Introduction to series: Beyond The Surface

A warm hello to everyone on steemit (especially my fellow science enthusiasts on steemstem). My name is Ojekunle Moshood but I'm mostly known by my alias Moshroom. Am I edible or poisonous? Well am neither thanks. How I got that name I can hardly remember but I know it's kind of related to the fact that I'm a microbiologist and this is my first post on steemit.

Prior to me joining this innovative community, I was excited and nervous at the same time. I was excited because of all the potential money one could accumulate on steemit and nervous because I'm not a social-savy person (for instance, I have less than 500 friends on facebook. Weird in this decade right? I know). Well some people might think acknowledging there's money to be made on steemit is bad, and I'd say I'm just being honest and I strongly believe the foundation of all good relationship is honesty . And I intend to build a solid relationship with people here hoping it would last a life time.

I've been around on steemit about a week now and i've been participating generally but most often on steemstem- which is an interactive sub-community within the steemit community at large that connects and promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics postings. Hence, the acronym STEM. This first week of mine has been nothing short of exciting and educating as I've been learning and contributing (comments and upvotes) and many steemians have been encouraging by responding to my comments and sometimes giving me an upvote.

Just yesterday as I was about to sleep, an idea popped into my thick skull. I got an inspiration to start a series that would challenge myself and my readers. Challenge myself to dig beyond the ordinary surface of everyday science phenomena all around us that we tend to overlook. Literally dig beyond the surface so to speak into science that is all around us but eludes us because of our lack of attention. Science manifests all around us in many different ways, forms and objects and its quite sad only a few people actually are aware of this so I'm making it my mission to make people understand the science, principles and mechanics behind everyday machines and innovations and how they interect with one another to work.

Thank you for your time and attention and I intend to make it a life-long responsibility to always add value to the community.
