Steemian Introduction/ mini tour during the pre-operation of OKADA Manila

Good day Steemians! To fulfil the mandatory “initiation” before being a full pledge active user in Steemit or some might say; the incumbent post of a resident Steemit user, here is my take on the #introduceyourself post here on Steemit. I hope you enjoy this simple piece, which I wrote, in order to share who I am as a person, and also what kind of Steemit user I aspire to be in years to come, which also boils down from how I stumbled upon and decided to dive in this platform on the first place.

First off, I am Julian Philip A. Jimenez, a new and aspiring Steemit user from the Philippines. I’m currently living on my motherland which I never have left ever since I was born, and which I never have planned on leaving as well. Clearly, I am a proud Filipino millennial and I very much love my country since day one.

I am on my 22 years of existence already, and just recently getting my hands on my very first professional license as a practitioner of Civil Engineering.

(Here's one of the few snaps I took while I was working on the very first project I was assigned to, as I am practicing my profession. In this picture, it shows the front view of the hotel which is now known as OKADA Manila.)

Here's another shot of the front view, as me and my colleagues went closer to the oval/supposedly mall part of the resort. As a side note, OKADA Manila is a casino, hotel, mall and resort, four in one amusement go to in the Philippines. It boasts the title of being the very first five star hotel in the country, and I really recommend it you guys who are planning to visit my country and as well as to my 'kababayans' who haven't tried to go to the place.)

I was born in a family of engineers, one might say it was on my hereditary code. To be an engineer was a must, it was inevitable, it is my family’s lineage and pride at the same time. From my father, to my titos and titas, to my grandfather, heck even to my great great grandfather, they were all engineers of different fields of specialization.

I had to be one as well and luckily, I manage to swoop a license for myself, but there was a catch. In my endeavor of reaching my family’s expectation of me per se, I never had the chance to do what I really love doing.

(I took this shot because I was in awe and admiration for the workers on this project, the ones who get their hands dirty, the ones who risk their lives like the people in this picture, just so they can put money on their pockets, and food on their families' plates. My salute to you beautiful people out there in the world doing the best you can for your love ones)

What are these things that I haven’t had the chance to embrace?

First off, I am an admirer of art. I do enjoy pondering and appreciating the aesthetic of things especially on the field of photography. I do take snaps from time to time and I wish to expand my skills on this field further.

Secondly, I am a very avid fan of films and videomaking in general. I binge watch a lot of films and videos ever since I gained the leisure time because of finally getting my license recently. But ultimately, I want to make films and video content of my own. It may be travel videos, a skit or even full-length film sounds nice.

Third, I really like to think that I am a connoisseur of music, a curator of sort, but sadly that is not the case. (lol) Anyway, I listen to a lot of different genres of music but mostly hip-hop and had been trying to produce beats recently, most of them falls under the category of lo fi sonically.

Lastly, I love to read. If I’m not doing work, watching films or random videos, or making beats, I could guarantee, I’m reading something at a corner. I love to read books, I love to read articles about a lot of different things, it may be about pop culture, social commentaries, critiques, thinkpieces and discoveries. Any kind of literary work, you name it, if it hits my interest, I would read it right away.

All these interests that I have said, they will be the gist of what’s my content going to be here in Steemit. Maybe by the now, you already have a hint on why I joined Steemit, and that is to hone, share and showcase what I can do with these things that are totally different from my upbringing as a Civil Engineer. But why Steemit you might ask? There are ton of different specific platforms which cater to all the interests I’ve mentioned, so why Steemit. Well I’ve stumbled upon Steemit from a friend of mine (shoutout to @jepoyasinas), He was a Steemit user back from last year and been posting ever since. He told me details on how to get started on this platform, what are important points to remember in order to be effective on it, so basically, I’ve learned what Steemit is all about through him. And from what I’ve learned and through further research, I became hooked to Steemit right away. Nobody is going to deny that one of the perks on why they joined Steemit, creating content that you liked and getting revenue in return? Who wouldn’t want to try that out right. This for me, is a promising platform. and I want to hone my skills alongside the growth of this family.
